After 2 days off I am surprised you were able to make it that far. :) I probably arrived an hour after you left.

Rob, I could use your advice about this very thing. I am currently going on 6 days in a row without running. First it was being sick, now it's the cold weahter and lack of 1-babysitting, 2- gym membership, 3- treadmill. It's a downward spiral.

I know I'm going to pull myself out of this funk. I'll find a way to get out there running again. I've just got to toughen up and do it.

But my question is, how much fitness have will I have lost after a week of not running? What milage should I resume? I ran about 40 miles the week before I stopped. My last long run was Jan 1st. I did 15 miles.

My running group is doing 17 miles this Saturday. If I run today, tomorrow, and Friday, do you think I could pick up where I left off and do 17?

You have given me such great advice in the past.

More later? Thats enough, make it stop..

Hey Lindsey - I was definitely being a little bit dramatic about my two consecutive days off. Your week off will impact you more psychologically than physically. Your funk will lift with your first good run.

Just take it a little easier on the first day or two back.

I'm going to be down in Austin at the end of January to run the Austin 3M Half Marathon. Looking forward to some warm weather!

Before my funk, I was considering that race myself. I was looking for a reason to go to Austin. My husband's sister lives there, so we get to stay for free and free babysitting.

I was trying to decide whether to run the 3M this month, the Austin Marathon in Feb, or the Zooma half marathon in April.

Everyone goes through periods like this with their running. Sometimes forced time off is even good for you. Takes care of any little aches and pains you might have had and you return mentally recharged.

Bummer about the race. It's always fun to meet others from the blog. Let me know if you change your mind.

Just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this... and totally redeem yourself!

(bonus pts if you can name the movie)

I was always amazed at Planet Fitness how it was empty at 4:30 am (only a couple retired people walking on treadmills- when I'm retired, I sure as heck ain't gonna wake up at 4:30), still almost empty at 5:15, but by 5:30-5:45 the place was packed.
