5:45 am workout with the varsity teams: We ran an easy 3 miles with a fast finish. Then some striders, drills, and core exercises. Finished with an easy 800.

I averaged 8 minute pace which is pretty good since I've been experimenting with a new trend I've been reading about in the best selling book "Chi Posin With the Tarahumara". I'm running in swim flippers while wearing the Vibram Five Fingers on my hands. Before primitive man learned to walk upright he would occasionally run on all fours while chasing wildabeasts to exhaustion. Hence the Five Fingers - I'm not quite ready to go bare handed.

In casual conversation with other runners I'm also sure to shake my head in dismay at the poor saps who are still running in running shoes.

What??!?!? Is this April fool's?

Jeff - I amuse myself and that's all that matters! Seriously, when I was typing it I was drinking a Gatorade and I started laughing until the Gatorade shot out my nose all over my keyboard. I'm my biggest fan.

I'm just making fun of the whole Chi, Pose, barefoot, vibram five finger craze. I know this guy who has been running for about 2 months and has logged maybe 50 miles his entire life. But he read Born to Run so he's an expert. The other day he was lecturing me on how stupid I am because I run in running shoes and actually replace them when they get worn out.

The fact that I've been doing this for 32 years and have circled the globe several times is cancelled out by his reading Born to Run.

Oh, Rob - there you go inserting personal experience and common sense into the whole argument - sheesh! Can't you just let the corporate conspiracy angle play itself out for a while at least. I'm jumping on the bandwagon with a class action suit against XXooks and AsiXX for my persistent ear aches.

Doug - have you tried hanging the Vibram Five Fingers or a pair of Crocs from your ears when you run?

It' can't hurt.

I personally have received much validation and joy returning to my roots by running in my chimpanzee suit.

Kory! You're actually reading the blog? It's great to hear from you.

We Murphys were hoping to swing by and meet you next weekend when we're in Pocatello for the half. Hopefully you will be out of the hospital by then?

Ya love reading about my friends. I hope Jeff and you do well next week. I'm going to try and be there at the finishing line next week at the Pocatello marathon even though I'll probably cry when I watch it. Nobody in my family is doing any of the events now. My wife stopped her training because of her father's issues and isn't ready for it.

I'm out of the ICU since last night and have taken 10 steps and will have rehab today. Hopefully I can meet you next week? I do have a long road for recovery.

Has your wife said how my Father-in-law is doing? Take care.

You crack me up!! I actually tried to picture it. Well if a running coach does it... :-)
