XC practice with the kids.  We did a Fartlek pyramid on the Jordan River Parkway.  I actually felt decent running today for the first time in a week and a half.    Three of my guys stuck with me and we added 15 seconds to each interval and built up to two minutes and worked back down (:15, :30, :45, :60...), with the same recovery as the fartlek.  Kind of a fun workout.  7 miles total

I got a late start this morning and didn't start until about 9:30 am.  I was going to run again last night but we had some good friends from Calgary come down to visit.  I did a 9 mile loop around the Lone Peak and Alpine highways.  I didn't really feel bad or good on my run, and it was hot, but I was glad to get out.  1:04:58

XC practice with my kids.  We did Yellow Fork Canyon above Herriman today.  Four of my guys came with me and we made it upto the ridge where the single track runs into the old  Bingham Canyon mine road.  It took us 35 minutes to make it the 3 miles up (about an 1800 foot climb), it kicked my butt!  We came down on the south side of the ridge on a different trail.  1:05:42 for the 6.5 mile run.

Late morning run around Temple and PG. It was pretty hot out but I kept the pace slow. I felt pretty good for running a tough trail run yesterday. 7:25 pace for the 7.5 miles

First long run for me this year. I think I did a 14 miler in February before I got sick and that has been my longest run. I met Josse, Michelle, Adam, Matt, and two other ladies that I never caught their names at the parking lot at the mouth of Provo canyon. 5:30 was a bit early for me but I managed. 80 degrees when we started

We took off at an easy pace and headed up the trail. We had a cut through restricted area where the fire was. On the way down we took the highway to avoid getting busted. I ran with Josse the whole way up and back. We ran into Phil Olsen running, and Curt Catmull marking his 1/2 marathon course. Curt told me he registered me for his race and wants me to do the bus turn around again, so I said sure. We ended up running up to the dam and coming back the same way. I stuck with Josse while the others took off to do some tempo. We took a GU at 14 miles which seemed to kick in and do the job. I need to start training with that stuff more often. The rest of the run felt good and relaxed for my first 20 miler since St. George last year. Josse kicked down the last Kilometer at 6 minute pace to finish the run. 2:37:00 for the 20.25 mile run.

We got in the river after which felt great. Then Josse had me lay down on the grass by the gas station to work on my butt and hamstring. I think it looked funny to people with her crouching over me kneeling on my butt and hamstring. One lady came and asked us if we need any help and a little girl told her mom," look that lady is beating that guy up!" It hurt like crazy but I know it helped me a lot. Thanks Josse! All in all it was a good morning. I was glad to finally get a long run in and it was nice to run with other people.
