Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Walked 1.75, stretched, ran 6 miles with MacK (8:12 ave) then walked 2.25 to make 10 miles total.

Second day of strange foot pain.  On right foot, on top toward toes 2 & 3, pain lasts for about 5-10 seconds, radiates then dissipates.  It happens every 5 or 10 min, so not continuous, which makes me think it might be neurological.

Neuromas, they are contagious and you caught them from me ;)

From Paul on Wed, Oct 21, 2009 at 12:06:03 from 76.27.122.123

Neuroma is usually b/w toe 2 and 3, although i think it's at the bottom rather than the top. Not sure on that, though. Supposedly they "zing" with each step, and it can feel like you are stepping on a little ball bearing or marble.

Hopefully you can keep making progress. Good to see some running going on in you blog:)

I thought I had a neuroma once, so I researched it a fair bit. But then it turned out to be just be ankylosing spondylitis instead. Whew, what a relief! ;)

yeah, I'm pretty happy with my neuromas ;)

From RAD on Wed, Oct 21, 2009 at 15:32:04 from 76.27.12.70

Funny, but I read the post and immediately 'neuroma' popped in my head too! I've had them as well, but they seem worse in some shoes/insoles than others.

Paul, I'm also happy and content with my neuromas - and am VERY grateful that is what they are!
