Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Pain 1.

My baby, JJ, turned 5 years old today.  Oh, man, he is getting so old.  He'll be in preschool this fall, I have no babies!  We had blueberry pancakes, sausage, bacon, oj, oranges and kiwi for breakfast, and went to Brick Oven Pizza for dinner (I had one slice and one trip to the salad bar, thank you--ok and three bites of his free birthday dessert).

Today is day one of no food after dinner.  9 days until I get to start exercising. Rock on.

Single digits! Woot! I can't wait for Michelle to be back in action! With no babiesa at home during the day, you might have to get a puppy!

If you weren't so far away I would say I ran past your house... I definitely smelled syrup and some sort of breakfast meat on the run.

Yay for 9 days!

Hola Chika! I just read your week. WOW! I am sorry that dumb doc confirmed the diagnosis :( (You know what I mean :( Anyhoots- I love seeing your pain level so nice and low :) Who are you going to see??? Doc #1 or Doc #2? Are you going to PT with Brady or Steve or someone new all together?

Glad to hear things are starting to get better and you can ease back into training. I've been following your blog when I have time. I hope everything works out for you. I've had SI joint problems on and off and know how frustrating that can be. I can only imagine the pain dealing with the other injuries and conditions you've had to deal with.

Thanks everyone. JJ had a great weekend.

Marion, I am just not sure about the four docs. How about we put the two rheums in a metal cage and the two therapists in a metal cage and see who comes out victor? Sounds reasonable to me :)

Ooohhhh a cage fight! I like it :) I have not met Steve, but Brady is pretty scrappy and has acupuncture! ;D
