Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Ran with MacK.  It was way cold!  Took a nasty spill, caught myself with my hands, then scraped the side of my knee, but thankfully didn't tear my new, expensive tights.  The fall was in slo-mo, of course, and I hit McKenzie on my way down, and I was so concerned I would make her fall, but thankfully I didn't.

My stomach felt way empty during the run.  Now cramming down some oatmeal w/banana.

Be careful out there Kiddo, we are just getting you healthy and we can't afford another injury:-)

Amen to Clay, also, the ice hasn't even really started to accumulate. But if those are the tights I'm thinking of, they're tough and can take a beating. So glad you didn't really hurt other stuff! I know, running makes you HUNGRY. It's so much harder to control what you eat when you start topping 40 miles and more a week!

Look at your weight girl! Great job! :) Sorry about your spill, way to not take out your companion though :)

I loved your run yesterday , , a mile here, a mile there! You are one devoted cookie! (Did I say cookie? I mean, uh, carrot, , , trying to help you stay on your healthy track of course, ha ha)

Oh no!! So glad you are okay! I have to add to what Clay and the ladies said. You are tough and devoted! I am sure the fall looked as if it were intentional. No one would have known :). Next time tuck and roll and before you know it, you'll pass others on the road doing the very same thing. You could start a trend!! Not to mention with the new snow, it would be soft and everything. I'll try it next time I am out and let you know how it goes :)

You're awesome Michelle, keep up the good work!
