Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Met MacK and white chocolate Ali.  We walked, stretched, then ran.  During stretching Ali mad me laugh so hard I was literally rolling around on the cement laughing instead of stretching.  It was good to hang out again.

We must have been feeling good.  I messed up and didn't have the first 1.58 of our run timed, but the rest of the run was 7:35 ave pace, so it was probably 7:40 ave pace overall.

14 miles total.  Will do abs later today.

Have the BYU FB game today and a pie party.  Heaven help me, I'm entering babylon.

Come over and get some pie (we'll be here until noon)! Part of pie #2 is for you. Kellie and Tyler get some of it too. I can't meet at 1pm because of the game.

I'll get off my bum and be right over :) See you in about 36 minutes ;D

Great run, Michelle! Your miles are really adding up. Be careful in Babylon.

Great run Michelle!! You are so getting back into shape :D. Did you know that your miles aren't totally posted, in case you are tracking? Go Cougars!! I take it you are going to the game? Eating pie, huh, only the beginning of babylon week :D.

From MichelleL on Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 12:52:37 from 71.213.97.46

I track all of my running miles, the rest are walking, then I count approximately half of my walking miles on my running shoes. Confusing, eh?

Yes, going to the game.

From JulieC on Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 13:25:50 from 67.40.111.101

Michelle, you can't confuse the confused. I love that you are taking the time to walk, healing better with that I bet.

Woah, nice running this week! Your mileage is definitely getting up there. I'm glad you rewarded yourself with pie too. Did the cougs win today?

From MichelleL on Sun, Nov 22, 2009 at 00:09:42 from 71.213.97.46

Thanks Nan. Yeah, BYU basically slapped Air Force around. It would have been more entertaining if it had been a tighter game.

From Smooth on Sun, Nov 22, 2009 at 00:18:54 from 174.23.201.210

AWESOME mileage and FUN pace with friends! While the Cougars were slapping the Air Force, I was making pasta!!! Had Costco pies ala mode. I'm sure NOT half as GOOD as your pies! Babylon huh! Bring it on! You have nothing to fear with the running you're doing lately!!!
