Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

2.35 miles walked in 40:05.  17:02 pace, wanting to walk faster.  Walk felt a little better on SI joint.  Some pain at same place in the road as yesterday, but for less long, its like a burning after you get an immunization, not the pain during or right after the shot but the residual burning.  Since it's at the same place in the road, but not at the same place in my walk, it may have to do with slant in road, I'll have to pay attention to this.

I could not fall asleep last night!  I was so hungry, it's like I could feel my body consuming itself.  I've been eating 1700-1900 cal/day this week, and its tough relearning that I will be hungry at times.  I am about to be really full of oatmeal in a few minutes, though.

If you are STARVING- eat the oatmeal :) I chop an apple and cook it with the oats. YUMMY! Super filling, super low cal!

GOOD JOB on eating healthy! Don't forget to drink plenty. Water has zero calorie and so very good in "cleansing" the body! WAY to keep walking and listening to your body!!! Oatmeal flavored snow cones?!!!

Lots of high fiber foods will help keep your stomach full (and colon empty :)).

It will be interesting to find out if the slant of the road causes issues.
