Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Best sleep in a while last night, pain 0-1 most of the time, spikes to 2.  I have been on crutches since last night in another attempt to get walking, and my legs have some weakness, likely some ligaments around my ankles, but SI feels fine as I hobble around. I always strike both feet, but vary the amount of weight the right foot gets.

The dreaded weigh in showed not too much damage during the time in the wheelchair.  Most excellent.

Same pain Wed night, 0-1, spikes to 2.

Michelle,

Just read about your visit to the neurosurgeon. Still no definitive answers. Always good to have second and third opinion. Very important for your doctor to look at all the assessments from your specialists including the rheumatologist so nothing's missed or overlooked. You are smart and strong to be in control, to track everything and have a solid history. Keep up the positive attitude. You're in the prayer roll and of course in mine daily. :)

I am glad you are getting better sleep:) And sound like the Dr. yesterday was a good move in the right direction. I am glad to see it.

Both frustrating, and yet comforting visit. Still need to find out what is going on, and how we can get you mobile. I am glad you were a little more pain-free last night. Your weigh-in is great Michelle, I know it is not what you want, but you are doing incredibly well. I am proud of you!

hugs.
