Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Day 9 of no running, Day 2 of complete vegging.

I can feel my SI!  I am not sure if its the shot or the adjustment, but they say the steroids will start to work their magic in a handful of days, so I guess I just sit tight.  I had one can of soda and gave away the rest at work.  I have no soda tomorrow.  I reserve the right to nap.  Anyone out there who can run and who decided not to today deserves a big Michelle scowl ;)

Michelle,

I am not nearly as strong of a runner as you, but I definitely can feel your pain. I tried to run today after 12 days of no running ... stopped about .25 miles into the attempt, too much pain. It really does stink.

Hang in there.

I am glad that I went for a run! I don't like that Michelle SCOWL!!!

From paul on Fri, Apr 03, 2009 at 13:30:16 from 75.162.105.45

I was scowling and grumbling as I started running in the dark, snow, and wind on Wednesday morning. Then I remembered that I'm on borrowed time anyway, running is a gift, and that I should be grateful to run. After that I was pretty happy to be out there, and even smiled once. Good times.

Is it good that you can feel the SI?

I hope I didn't get the scowl for not running. I am going to cross train today and tomorrow (maybe) and try running on Monday.

I am doing my part -- I am not even complaining - at least about running ;-).

Maurine - You have a scowl-free pass for a while. Get well. Don't do the Michelle.

Teena - sorry you are out of commission too. Hopefully it's a temporary setback for the both of us, and we'll be able to come back roaring.

Sorry your injury is still plaguing you. Have considered a more Van Aaken approach? Similar to Galloway, but you break for walking more often due to the injury. Just my 2 cents.

Good for you with the soda :) David loved Zupas, by the way. It may be our new favorite spot :)

I am so glad that Wednesday was one of the days I actually did run this week! I would hate to have received a scowl!!!

This too shall pass....SOON.
