Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Went to Josse Gym (Josse's house) to bum off her nice elliptical machine, since it was too snowy to bike outside and I am off running.

Ode to the bone scan machine:

I want to feel all the chemicals inside, I want to feel.

I want a stress fracture just to know that I'm alive, to know I'm alive.

(italicized words modified, Ensign style).

(Name that band, winner gets the exclusive rights to Michelle's "We're cooler than everyone else" club).

Got a bone scan today.  Full body, and pelvic areas two ways.  I could see the image as it scanned on a screen but couldn't interpret it.  Must take some schooling or something.  Bet who ever interprets it makes more than a Wal-mart checker :) (or a CPA for that matter).

Don't know the band but feel badly for the pain you are in. When do you get the results? Do you have access to your healthcare results on line? It would show up there before your doctor let's you know, unless he is as anxious as you are. Anyway, hang in there. Your sense of humor seems to be pulling you trough. PS radiologists are paid very well all to interpret "ink blots". Amazing their ability to see the "unseen".

Oh how I wish I new the band so that I could be in "We're cooler than everyone else" club.

Best wishes to you.

Again, I hear you. At least with a stress fracture you would know what you need to do to heal it. With other "weird" injuries, you just really don't know what it will take.

I will be out of town, but anxiously awaiting the results on Monday.

Until then, cross-train well and keep your chin up. Hugs to Josse too.

Thriving Ivory-Angels on the Moon

Good luck on the results of the bone scan. I hope that they find something 'concrete' so that you can know what you need to do in order to be able to heal and move on.

Ahhh Michelle!!! I understand the feeling of just wanting to know whats wrong, my sophmore year of high school I was having horrible pain in my legs during track season, they did a bone scan on me and I had a stress fracture in each leg, it was just nice to get a diagnoses and know that it would get better and then I could make a plan and that I was not going crazy! I dont want you to have a stress fracture but I do want you to be able to know whats going on in your body! Definetly thinking of you!

Thanks everyone for your supportive comments.

Maurine - but you were already in the club :)

LOL - you can't throw a challenge like that out to someone who spends a lot of the day using Google to find answers to questions.

From MichelleL on Thu, Mar 26, 2009 at 23:37:24 from 67.41.191.61

No, no, no, its not meant to be a google test. Who votes for Maurine's impeachment? j/k, but my lyric challenges are meant to test whose in tune with my tunes.

It is going to say that you can do tempo runs with Tyler starting the month of JUNE!!! And who ever else wants to join?? Good luck and I hope to make it into your club one day!
