Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Met MacK and TylerS and a new guy on the blog RichC at 5:30, then we met up with Ali and the SF group at 6am.  We pulled away from Ali and MacK at around 6-7 miles as Ali and MacK made some funny jabs at me, seeing how long I could still hear them.  Thanks ladies!  I love you too, and spandex looks great on you too!  Went up Harry's and that's where I felt a little winded.  It was nice to do my longer run at a fast easy pace.  It will be hard to get in any quality with my reduced sleeping time.  Still, I am excited to do some faster stuff next week.    Sleep level's been tolerable, but its a bit of a grind to get 6 hours day after day.  Only 10 weeks until the end.  Nice!

Let's see that will make me almost 20 weeks pregnant at the end of tax season.

From Jon on Sat, Feb 07, 2009 at 13:14:09

How many hours a day do you work during tax season? How many hours of sleep do you get?

From MichelleL on Sat, Feb 07, 2009 at 16:59:22

Josse - half way point.

Jon - depends on the day, usually like 11-6-11-6-10-4(M T W TH F S). Sleep, last year I was probably averaging 5.5 or 6, this year I want to get at least 6 a night, but we'll see.

Nice run Michelle, your doing well...

From Marion on Sat, Feb 07, 2009 at 17:47:55

I'll sleep some for you :) I missed you today. We went to Starbucks for hot chocolate.

Great run Michelle. My parents are accountants and my mom has to totally stop running during February and March, and my dad has to go at 3:30 to still have time. Growing up around that I completely understand what you are going through! They have their own business and by the end you just want the people out of your house! Plus some of them smell funny and we have to spray air freshener when they leave, haha.

So what you are doing is verrrry impressive. Keep up the good work, stay sane and keep getting your sleep!

From MichelleL on Sun, Feb 08, 2009 at 11:04:51

Hey thanks Kelsey. I like that there are no clients coming to my house. That would just add stress. Most of my clients smell ok :)

Nice new pic! Good luck with tax season. You can train around it - but be patient.

I like how you are on the 'lone faithfuls' list - you get lots of comments, but Sasha must want you to get more.

From Teena on Sun, Feb 08, 2009 at 23:02:24

Love the pic Michelle!!

Here's to the deepest possible 6 hours of sleep ever.

(Maybe you can master Benjamin Franklin's trick of training his body to go directly into the REM cycle and hence only needing 4 hours a night. Perhaps that's not even true ... but I remember reading it somewhere.)

You're amazing.
