First three miles were brisk. I stopped to pick up Gunner and it was stop and go after that. I'm trying to get use to running with a hunting dog and poop bags. He pointed at a cat and three deer. He seemed to run in stride after 3&1/2 miles. |

I'm counting these 2 miles walking through the airport b/c I was "resting" and wearing my running shoes for support. |

According to the Garmin, I ran 26.3 miles in 3:42:58. The only thing I can figure is that our chip time was started with the wheel chair race as they were starting when we put our bags in the UPS truck. Oh well... here are our splits according to our watch: I finally figured out what went wrong with the time. The watch was set to autostop! It gave me a false sense of pace and time. 1- 8:06 8:06 2- 16:04 7:58 3- 24:07 8:03 4- 32:05 7:57 5- 39:55 7:50 6-48:12 8:16 7-56:23 8:10 8-1:04:43 8:20 9- 1:12:23 7:40 10-1:20:28 8:04 11-1:28:40 8:12 12-1:36:18 7:37 13-1:44:53 8:34 141:53:04 8:11 15-2:01:44 8:40 16-2:10:51 9:06 17-2:20:01 9:09 18-2:28:21 8:19 19-2:36:46 8:25 20-2:45:52 9:05 21-2:55:39 9:46 22-3:04:54 9:15 23-3:13:51 8:56 24-3:22:45 8:54 25- 3:32:11 9:26 26- 3:41:11 9:00 26.2- 3:42:58 1:46
pace average 8:29 THE BAD: The course was not a favorite. The first half was pretty with rolling hills, yet the second half was straight roads uphill through town. The website advertises net loss (1452 ft) but does not tell you net gain. (ascent- 2493 ft; descent- 3945) No clock at halfway point or at the end! No icy hot. Very few spectators. Cold at beginning-didn't warm up until 1/2 way. only 600 marathoners- not a lot of energy. soft stomach with one bathroom break mid-run and 5+ after the race. The BIG KILL JOY was hearing that our time was 3 minutes slower than what we thought according to the watch. still trying to figure that one out. THE GOOD: The swag bag was great- potatos, t-shirt, duffle bag! Comfortable bus ride. Real rec center bathrooms at beginning and end. Lots of water/Powerade & three extra energy gels. Good food at the end. Running with Cheryl. Paul joined us at the half with fresh legs. Good running outfits. BQ qualifying for both of us. (Cheryl giving me an ipad for running with her!) Get to spend a weekend in Driggs, Idaho.
