CREEKY KNEES I was reminded of my grandpa when I started the run this morning. He would always give himself a pep talk when getting out of his lazy boy chair saying something like..."come on old man, you can do it"... "come on knees" ... while huffing and puffing. After an exerted effort, he would somehow get out of that chair. I felt the same way this morning during a tempo run. My pep talk went something like this: "Come on knees, come on hips, loosen up. You can do it. Warm up legs." I then imagined myself as the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz getting oiled up. The positive self talk I learned from my grandpa really helps. I felt strong and loose after about 1 mile. 4.3 miles ave 8:07 pace.
