1 mile warm up. 5k FUN RUN.  Unofficial time: 23:06.  PA - 7:26.

Aubree and I used the Cranbrook Fun Run for our beginning of training time trial.  It was a beautiful course.  I went out a little fast because I thought I was going to hit the clock on the right.  I got a side ache 1/2 way through.  Also, my vision seemed blurred - not because I was running fast but because I think I'm getting old and need contacts!

I had a lot left in me at the end, but I slowed down in the middle and walked up two hills.  I ran this pace several splits of my marathon.  I NEED TO WORK ON MENTAL STAMINA!  Any suggestions?

Great job Mary! How fun to be able to run through Cranbrook. I love those gardens! I bet it reminded you of your old CC days from High School.

For mental stamina, all you need to do is read your little quote book you gave me for Boston! Did you make one for yourself, yet?

Also, I ran 1 5k last year, and it just felt sorta weird to run that short - I didn't quite know how to pace myself either. Our bodies get so used to a certain pace and running for long distances. If you went at a faster pace, you could totally hold it because the distance is short.

Do you remember "strides" from CC/track? doing 100 m repeats a few times a week at a fast -almost sprint. I think I should start doing these before or after runs to get a feeling of a faster pace running through my legs.

You are awesome!
