Long-Term Running Goals: Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.
I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.
Personal: Dad of three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.
I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.
(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.
I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:
Forward Progress!
Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Longhaul preview part 2 - went back to the Cypress Creek Preserve. There was a small group running here today, starting at 8:00 am, to preview the race course, race director Andy and about 10 or so other people. I got there too late for the start but saw them coming up from the first spur, so I was able to run over and catch up with them. It was a nice and relaxed easy run with a few walk breaks here and there. Stopped for a quick group selfie as we got back to the paved road, then continued on to the last spur. Since I skipped the first spur at the start of the run, ran that by myself and then since I was close to 48 miles for the week, ran about an extra mile or so.
Weather was nice, not too warm and a little bit of cloud cover.

Run was delayed a little bit due to waiting on washing machine repairperson (repairman in this case). Once it looked like it would be a little while longer, went for a short run sticking close to the house and carried my phone. It actually started out as a walk but it slowly turned into a run/walk with mostly running at the end.
For a run that almost didn't happen, it was better than nothing and maybe what I needed.

Easy running from Foxwood to the Lake Dan trail. Today's goal was to practice recharging my garmin while it is in use. That has been hit or miss in the past, today was a success. Tucking a USB battery into my running belt and attaching the charging cord after loosening the watch. Went from 18% to 68% during the run.
Did a little bit of walking here and there to simulate race day.
