Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Sub 40:00 10K
  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

Love living in Florida but love to travel and see the country and rest of the world.

Ran from Westlake Village, to the Pinellas Trail and then out to the Dunedin Causeway as far as the place that does kayak rentals.  Stopped for a quick pit stop then turned around, headed back to the trail (saw Jessica finishing up her causeway walk, but she had to go meet Aubrey quickly), then headed south a bit, turned right onto 580 and then ended the run when I hit 10 miles.  Just "happened" to stop near 7th Sun Brewery.  Stopped for some rehydration and then Jessica came to pick me up.

Did a loop running part of the way through Westlake Village and the rest on Belcher Rd and Alderman Rd to get back to the house.

Ran from my house to the Lake Dan trail, out a total of 2.5 miles and then back the way I came.  Ran a little bit faster than what I had been running.  Trail was peaceful this morning.

Thought I would try walk/run with 3 minutes of walking followed by 1 minute of running.  Brisk walk and then a not too slow but not too fast run.  Ran kind of a big loop dissecting Westlake Village, a little bit on the Pinellas trail and the rest on Omaha St and Alderman Rd.  For mostly walking, it was not a bad pace.

Running slump continues, made the most of it by taking Stella for a short run.  This has two benefits (maybe more) - 1. she needs the exercise and stimulation getting out of the house and yard, and 2. her pulling on the leash helps me get going - it's kind of like the assist when running on a treadmill with no incline.

We ran from my house, to the new trail and north a little bit before turning around and coming back.  Wore the crocs LiteRide again which are really growing on me.

It was a good run today.  Slept in late which can be dangerous for actually starting a run but it was nice and cool this morning, still in the high 50's when I started.  Ran from my house, to the new trail and then north, across SR54, then turned right into Starkey Ranch from Starkey Blvd, far enough to get 4.5 miles, then turned around the way I came.

First mile was pretty slow, like 12:30ish.  Thought I'd be stuck at a 12 minute pace, but the last two miles were finally in the 8's.  I'm not sure why I have such a problem starting out a little bit faster.
