Long-Term Running Goals: Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.
I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.
Personal: Dad of three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.
I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.
(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.
I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:
Forward Progress!
Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Day off, so started a little bit later. Ran in the nbhd. Tried out new GoRun Ride3's as a non-speed shoe. I'll have to give them another try but so far like the other Skechers models I've tried.
Run was pretty good overall. Ran into Joe about 2.5 miles into the run and stuck with him for next 5 miles.

Ran at the Y with the Striders. Started out kind of easy but not completely slacking. I ended up doing 4 intervals of random distances, the first was a mile that started out slow that I steadily picked up, finishing at 6:56, then three shorter ones (0.33, 0.5, 0.52), with paces of 6:16, 5:55, and 5:54. I could feel my lungs working on the last two.

Crisp. Looped around nbhd, out to Duckslough to Trinity, then past Fox Hollow and out and back onto Trinity Blvd and home. somehow managed a couple of blisters on my left foot, not sure how that happened.

Started out with the intention of just plodding along but it turned into a pretty good run despite the chilly wind. Ran to the Y, stopped for water and a gel and then ran back.

More of the same. Chilly, ran through the nbhd and a bit more on Trinity Blvd with stop at the water fountain for a gel. Saw the same gathering of sandhill cranes I saw earlier this week.

Nice, comfortably cool weather this morning.
Got started about 8:30, trail was pretty empty (many people were running the Gasparilla races this weekend) after passing the turning point for the 5K taking place.
After 4 miles, I decided I'd run the rest under 8:00 pace. I had two miles right at 7:01 including the last mile. It's been a while (apart from races) that I've run a training run of this distance at this pace.
I usually just like to run these easy except for maybe a pickup at the end but I wanted to try something different.

Drove up with Cynthia, Renee, and Jessica. Nice morning, low 50's. Started out together for about the first mile then Cynthia and Renee pulled ahead. So, then it was my first time navigating the course, only made one wrong turn and only about a 1/4 mile out of our way. Slowed down a bit after mile 4. Did the last mile by myself after getting back to the car.
I was very happy that my legs did not feel anything leftover from yesterday's faster long run.
Had breakfast out at the Country Kitchen restaurant.

Ran at the Y with the Striders, started out with Joe and Renee and ran w them to the water stop. Then I did 4x800m intervals with 400m jogs between.
Did 6:12, 6:00, 5:55, 6:15 for the paces (they were actually each a little bit longer than 800m).
It felt hard and I need to add on some more, but it's a place I can start from.
