2007 Painters St George Half 1:42 This was my first real race. Got me addicted to running.

2007 Ogden Marathon 4:09 First marathon.

2007 Bryce Canyon Half 1:38 Fastest Half

2007 Rex E Lee 10k 45.18 Probably my best race. I love the 10k

Short-Term Running Goals:

I really want to qualify for Boston. Thats my primary goal right now. I am thinking I am going to go for it in December in Vegas, so check back then.

Personal:

I am a 23 year old student at BYU. I'm studying Facility and Property Management. I am single-believe it or not. Just living the American Dream. I love sports. Running is my way of staying competitive.

Greetings from San Diego. Just wanted to welcome a fellow Boston Marathon aspirant. Running at altitude should help you in sea level races. Let me know if you come to race in this area. BTW, I ran the LV Marathon in Dec '06. Hope to see all fastrunningblogers in my hometown of Boston April '09.

Pretty good down hill long run on the provo river trail starting at the Big Springs turn off. Its my last long run before the Deseret News in 12 days. Maybe a little too close, but I had to squeeze this training run in. I was under 2:20 so it gave me a lot of confidence for next week. I think Ill have a strong race considering the short training.

Ran with Dave, Brooke, and Mari from borders. I picked it up quite a bit on the last 1200m, although I didnt time it. Still a little fatigued from the training run on saturday, but not sore at all.

Started at reams with Dave and ran down the river trail down to paul ream park. It was a good fast run. I have been trying to speed up every mile and we really did that today. it felt great. our last mile was really cruising, no time, but i would guess 7:15 or 7:30.

Mari, Brooke, Natalie, Emily, Dave, and I ran the AF 5k. I started really fast and was able to maintain speed pretty well. I didnt quite have the kick I usually do but this was a PR for me so I was excited about that.

Ran 3 from borders to the bridge. My legs felt pretty dead from the 5k on sat. I probably shouldnt have run it so hard. It was overcast, but once we started running it got really hot. Pretty bad run overall.

This race really kicked my A. Im not sure if it was the heat or the unique course or what but it was rough. I was going for a 3:30 which may have been a little fast but based on my training runs I thought it was a realistic challenge. I threw up at mile 3 and at mile 17 I started cramping up in both calves and my right quad followed soon after. I have never experienced pain like that in my legs. I ran a 1:42 split and i was feeling great, I thought a negative split was realistic.

Just did a light 1 mile to see if i could work out some of the soreness from thursday. My calves still feel balled up but i am improving. Im excited to get training again. The dnews was rough and I kinda feel like Ive got something to prove now.

Ran 3 miles with Dave and Kelson. It was a tough run. My left calf started hurting right away. It still feels like the muscle is balled up from last weeks marathon. Other than that my muscles felt pretty good.

Dave and I did 2 up and backs in the canyon because the trail was closed because of the Bridal Veil fires. We did just 8.4 total. 2.1 each leg.

Ran with Mari, Brady, Emily, Natalie, and Dave. We went from Borders up 3 miles and back. We ran it really fast. It was a solid run. Not sure what our exact time was, but I think it was just under 47.00. Our split was close to 25.00

I started out planning on only going 3 miles but as I was running I kept talking myself into going further until I got up to 10.2 miles. It was a good run. I worked some hills in, I ran from Grandview down 8th north to 9th east then up past the temple to Rock Canyon then down to the parkway and up to university mall and home. The RC and Parkway hills were tough but I felt strong. Total time: 1:34.00

I went to the track at midnight and tried to do some speed work. I wanted to get 3 mile intervals at a 7.00 min pace. I ended up going 5 just for kicks. This is the first of many (hopefully) speed workouts. It kinda kicked my trash, but it was the good kind of hurt.

Dave, Cami, and I went on a long run from south fork to the lake. We went at like 4 o'clock so it was super hot still. That wasnt the best decision, but it happened. We ran it pretty strong I felt. We stopped a lot for water/gatorade. Our time(excluding stops) was 2:29.00. Not bad, just under 8.10 mile. The last 2 miles were killer.

Went to the PHS track at night and ran. I was feeling pretty sore from the long run and it was supposed to be my rest day but I was going a little crazy sitting at home so I went on a run. I ran 3 miles.
