Morning:  It was 8 degrees this morning with some areas of that nasty fog.  I was, however pretty motivated for my run today as I was on the brink of doing more miles in a week than I had ever run.  My previous high was 104 and I had over 93 before I started today.  It was pretty cold when I was in the foggy areas, in fact it had only warmed to 16 degrees by the time I finished my run almost 3 hours later.  I ran 23.27 miles putting me at 116.83 for the week.  I need to go to work now but there is some dumb part of me that is tempted to run 3.25 on my treadmill tonight so I can break 120.  Luckily tired will probably overrule dumb tonight.  What a GREAT week!!!

Whew, you deserve a nap! great job on the mileage this week. (ps-only crazy people run in weather that cold--crazy or dedicated.)

Congrats Bill. That's an incredible week of running.

You run the better part of a marathon as a long run. Do you think that works.

From Bill Mandler on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 07:53:37

James, I have always tried to run 22-24 on a long run because 22 miles is a good indicator of your current marathon fitness. The time it takes to run 22 miles in a training run will translate to your finish time for 26.2. It really works.

From allie on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 09:54:03

do you do a 22-24 miler weekly? i am trying to figure out what's best for me...weekly or every other week. what works for you?

From Bill Mandler on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 11:04:55

Allie, I do one every week unless I am racing the next weekend. I also do an 18-20 mile run on one of my weekdays if I have time.
