6:30am:  Today was a horrible run.  The temperature was fine, 37 degrees.  The wind was nasty, 30mph+, but that was not the problem.  The roads were ice or black ice with some water on top of them.  I literally had to stop and walk several times because it was flat-out dangerous. Even my bolt shoes did not help.   I ran (ha) 12.29 miles in a pace around 8:30 due to the conditions.  It felt more like a survival outing than a run.  I will try to get some fast miles in tonight.

6:00pm:  It was 40 degrees and very windy tonight, but all the roads that were ice this morning were just wet tonight.  I ran 6.57 miles and in the dark I saw 3 deer dart in front of some cars while running up Satterfield.

Great survival run. Your a warrior today. I did so many of these last year and would not run on a treadmill. Really it's better to run inside because you risk getting hurt, and you really can't train in these conditions. It's not that good for you aerobically because your not getting your heart rate up too much to do any good. Your really not burning very many calories either. I guess inside the gym or home you sweat more and burn more and stink everything up. :-)

But even though I say this I still will run outside because I just like being out there and not stuck in a single position on a treadmill.

Bill, this year is your year to bust out and accomplish great things. Your going to excel to a new level of performance. This is probably going to be my down year to refocus on other things in life. With being injured and not caring much about training I think it's a good choice for me.

My motivation is just not there for this year.
