Running Accomplishments:

I ran my first marathon as a teenager in 1981 with my Dad (The Coronado Marathon). Since then I've run St, George (3x) Utah Valley (3x) Ogden (1 full, 2 halves) Park City (1 x) Boston Marathon (1x) Washington DC (1x) Moab Half Marathon (6x) ,Ye Old Freedom Festival 5 & 10K (a million x) and many others.

But I'm all done with that now.  I'm officially a jogger.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My running goal is to keep on keepin' on.

Jog into the sunset.

I may not have actually slept 7 hours last night.  I try to go to bed early, but I rarely can sleep well on Sunday nights.  By 6:30, I was just proud to get out of bed and get out there.  I ran a soft warm up mile, and met Sasha and Jeff down the trail.  I then ran 3 faster miles--but three all together without stopping (8:24/8:00/8:17) Sasha's watch had me going a little faster, but I'll take these times (a little uphill none-the-less).  We stopped at the house for a while to try and get the heart rate monitor hooked up to the Garmin --to no avail.  While I stood there fidgeting with the Garmin, the sweat was just dripping down my arms.  The overcast, humidity always makes for great sweating --or as I like to call it "hero sweating."  A pretty schizophrenic running pattern today, but a great start to the week.  Day 4 with no processed / refined foods or sugar, or chocolate :(  I have not  yet become homicidal, but the day is still young.

Great job on the healthy diet......I ran out of fresh fruit over the weekend and have used it as an excuse. I think I should throw out the rest of the cookies I made so that way I don't eat them:) Please don't go homicidal on us, some of us need to read these faster blogs :) Have a great day!

Oh my gosh, give those cookies away-- quick! Whenever I have to make a birthday cake, I invite every single neighbor kid on the block for some, so I can get rid of it quick (because I will eat the whole thing if left on my own with it). Thanks for the encouragement on the nutrition plan. But if you hear of a random killing spree down here in Provo, you may feel that it wasn't such a 'healthy' idea to give up chocolate. We'll see.

Excellent run, Luz! Good job on the food too. I tried something similar a while back and I think I lasted...hmmm was it a full month? Probably not quite. Seemed longer, though. ;)

Thank you Lybi. We'll see what comes out of it. For me right now, it's mostly about disciplining my mind, and if highter energy/endurance/less flab are a result-- then bonus. Feel free to post what you did during that month here. I'm very interested in what others have done, and what has worked for them. I'm taking notes.

Laurie - good idea. It is OK to fast when you run out of healthy food. At least while you are in the US, our grocery stores are operational, and you have money.
