Running Accomplishments:

I ran my first marathon as a teenager in 1981 with my Dad (The Coronado Marathon). Since then I've run St, George (3x) Utah Valley (3x) Ogden (1 full, 2 halves) Park City (1 x) Boston Marathon (1x) Washington DC (1x) Moab Half Marathon (6x) ,Ye Old Freedom Festival 5 & 10K (a million x) and many others.

But I'm all done with that now.  I'm officially a jogger.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My running goal is to keep on keepin' on.

Jog into the sunset.

I did not sleep very much last night.  So I treated Josse to 8 miles of sheer boltushka style running.  Josse!  Welcome to Luz's world at fatrunningslob.com -- ruining the reputation of elite atheletes since 2008!  We ran 4 (9:14/8:52/8:51/8:54) into the canyon wind uphill-ish and 4 back down (8:25/8:25/8:19/8:21).  The great news is I've gone 5 days, (6-10 miles at a time) with NO STOPPING and holding steady near or under a BQT pace.  Oops, I just forgot we did stop for a drink at mile 6.  Darn.  I can't resist that cold, fresh artesian water fountain at the mouth of the canyon. Came home and ran a few more miles with Sarah.  I'm not sure I can get through my week now without her.  It's Friday! TGIF or whatever, I've almost made it.

Personally, I think you are crazy, you run so much......I can't believe it. Before my marathon I will have one week over 50 miles.

I know. It started as an experiment prior to the Freedom 10K, and although I didn't reach my sub 50:00 dream and didn't perform my personal best, I did improve my average pace by about 6-8 seconds on a fairly rigorous course. I've never really tried to run fast. But strangely, I think consistant highter daily mileage feels a little better than doing a long Saturday run. I just promised myself to tone it down this 'recovery' week, but kept having wonderful opportunities to run with others (which to me, is really, one of the biggest benefits of running in the first place). But I agee, it seems a little too much mileage at this stage in the St. George training game.

oh no... I see how many marathons and races you've run. When you've got a good thing going and you know what you're doing and you enjoy doing it-- let 'em call you whatever they want.

Oh, those races were bad. All of them except the very first one I did WAY undertrained. So this year my main goal is to be trained and to train smart. I want a good race and I know it will be if I just keep working.

Luz-recovery weeks are very important, so remeber to take them or you will be forced to.

Bad races make the good one so much sweeter:) Keep up the good work girls, I had many bad races this spring before I had a good one.

I know, I know. I didn't shave 15-20 miles off as you suggested, but I did cut 10 (counting what I'll do tommorrow, and I did less intensity work outs). I'm planning tommorrow super low-key, and of course, resting on Sunday....is that enough to be considred "recovery"?

You are fine this week, I usually do 3 harder week of building and then on the 4th week I will cut. So next week either cut out the intense running (except for the run with me) or you can cut out some miles. I would think cutting 10-12 would be fine. So it would look like this 50, 53, 55, 40, 53, 55, 58, 42, 55, 58, 60, 45 ect...miles a week assuming you want to get up to 60 miles a week. The recovery week helps me to be able to handle the higher mileage.
