Short-Term Running Goals:

I hope to run a sub-2:50 marathon, and to complete several events of 50 miles or longer.

I also hope to run a sub-5:00 mile.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I expect to compete in distance running for the next 30 years.

Personal:

Didn't run a lick until college, and then only to make weight for coxswaining (college crew). Rowed, sculled, and coxed for over a dozen years at all levels from club to international.

Off. Was supposed to be 5 miles easy, but tired from wedding the previous day.

1.5 miles in 8:25 (goal was 8:15)

Very little spring in legs. Disappointing. Ran from Dean/Smith corner to Luquer, to Court, up to near corner of Baltic. Some hill, some avoiding pedestrians. Didn't have a great sense of pace. Could've pushed much harder, I suppose.

Run to and from track, warm up with some strides on the grass and two or three 100m dashes at 17s each, then 2 x .75 miles with half-mile jog between, target time of 4:00 each.

3:53 / (4:30 jog) / 3:55

Much better. Was in control, and feel I could've easily extended either one more lap for a 5:10 mile without being too winded.

Was supposed to be 9 miles, cut it short for more rest. Had tight legs.

Easy 2mi run in AM to loosen up.

PM was 10 x (440yds / 440yds jogging recovery) at 70, 75, 75, 76, 75, 76, 75, 76, 75, 71 (jog rest averaged 2:10)

The sprints were OK, not zippy/bouncy but relatively easy. The target time was 78s, but I wanted to run quarters at my mile goal pace of 75s.
