New shoes!  Kinvaras arrived; not the fancy 3's allie is wear testing, just some outdated 2's.  To celebrate, I repeated the Biggest Loser Progression run.  I commenced at 7 mph and bumped .2 for each commercial break.  By the end I was pretty tired, and skipped one bump during the elimination phase.  (that sounds really gross)  Max speed was 8.6, then cooled down for a couple minutes at 7.  I can't believe how dumb the red team is to send home one of their strongest players.  Don't they want to win any challenges and prizes?

My knee is sketchy, but it doesn't bother me much.  Just enough to pitch little nagging thoughts in my brain.

My shoe review is:  they are shoes.  They look cool.  They feel fine.  The left shoe seems to have a bulge on the medial left arch that is absent on the right.  Perhaps my foot is deformed, beyond the Morton's toe, I mean.  One 10 mile run is a pretty good test run with no problems to report.

Based on allie's description, I think I'm going to like the 2s better than the 3s... but I'm still sort of jealous that she already has the new ones :-)

Nice progression run.

Andrea and I watched biggest loser for most of the episodes last season, but I can't seem to be motivated to watch it this time around. I think its Bob's stupid haircut that makes me unable to even look at the TV!

From Kam on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 11:42:13 from 68.66.163.179

Thanks, Jake. Bob's haircut is pretty horrible, but it could be much worse. Take a look at the new owner of the Raiders. He's got quite a 'do. http://static6.businessinsider.com/image/4f0de2e36bb3f73d7f000045/mark-davis-oakland-raiders.jpg

We're thinking of coming up for the run on Saturday. We'll keep you posted. Where do you guys meet to hit the Legacy trail?

From Andrea on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 11:54:11 from 72.37.244.100

I have Morton's foot too which is what I think is causing this stupid metatarsalgia issue. I think I'm going to start buying the mens Kinvaras b/c the womens are too narrow for my feet and can cause this problem.

From Kam on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 11:58:19 from 68.66.163.179

The easiest place to meet is a trailhead on 500 S. Take the I-15 exit 316 at 500 S. Bountiful, and head west for 2.25 miles. You'll cross over Legacy Highway and there's a parking lot on the left. 7:30 a.m.

Nice run Kam! I am struggling with BL this season. Usually I love it but so many of the contestants this season just seem so mentally weak. And the competition between Dulvet and Bob is just down right annoying.

From Tara on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 15:31:54 from 75.169.149.75

I'll be there Saturday.

From JD on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 15:34:11 from 70.96.78.149

i have a pair of kinvara 2's with about 250+ miles on them. so far they're the best shoe i've ever run in. with 250 miles they still feel solid, like they'll go another 500 miles no problem. i need to get another pair before they run out.

From Jake K on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 15:35:29 from 155.100.226.54

JD - I'm @ 1000 miles in my first pair. If you don't rip the upper, they pretty much last as long as you want them to. I just can't wear that pair when the ground is wet now, though, b/c the soles are worn smooth.

From JD on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 15:37:37 from 70.96.78.149

that's good news Jake - the uppers are pretty thin. i've busted through the uppers on a pair of hattori's - i just threw a little duct tape on them and they're good to go!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 16:06:17 from 24.18.125.122

Glad to hear the Knee is doing ok. I had a similar issue a couple weeks ago, but it seems to have passed.

From RAD on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 16:41:09 from 98.202.23.178

I'll say it - This season of BL SUCKS! yes, it does. Who quits anyway?!? REALLY?!? C'mon, suck it up dude. PLUS, the biggest loser on campus right now is a not so heavy female. What is with the men? I think all the good players must've gotten cut this season because they didn't have a good enough sob story to catch the audience's attention. I'll keep watching for the heck of it - gotta do something while I iron shirts for 4 males!! But, yeah, this season is not so great. Jillian needs to come back - and some players with a will to fight and attitude (to lose weight, not drama).

Oh, and nice run...wish I had a TM at home to watch what I want when I run - all I get is sports center, which gets really old. When I get fast enough to appreciate Kinvara's I will come back to the reviews :)

From allie on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 16:51:26 from 161.38.218.168

definitely blame the morton's toe...

From allie on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 16:51:53 from 161.38.218.168

hey, you should check out how dramatic the one on wikipedia is. look fast.

From Kam on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 17:04:04 from 68.66.163.179

Video game skills come in handy if you want to see wiki today. A quick select all and copy will let you paste into word at leisure. (I guess you can wait to look until tomorrow) My left toe is .25 inch longer, but my right toe is about the same length.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 17:11:34 from 24.18.125.122

If SOPA and/or PIPA actually pass, it may not ever be as easy as waiting until tomorrow. Just sayin'...

From Andrea on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 17:51:58 from 72.37.171.52

Just measured my toes at work. Looks like 0.2" on both feet. FYI.

From allie on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 17:52:51 from 161.38.218.168

OMG. please hold...

From allie on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 17:55:58 from 161.38.218.168

left = .175" right = negligible.

andrea wins! remember, it's a sign of royalty.

From Andrea on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 17:56:59 from 72.37.244.100

At least I'm symmetrical!

From RAD on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 23:08:05 from 98.202.23.178

okay, so you piqued my interest. Guess what? I have a Morton's toe too. I've always thought it was strange that my 2nd toe was longer than my big toe. I can only look at one foot because I'm too lazy to take the boot off the other foot right now, but I know both 2nd toes are longer. I also have a huge callus on the ball of my foot behind the 2nd toe which they say is another sign. I'll have to check my x-rays on Tuesday to see if the 1st metatarsal is shorter than the 2nd. Thanks to you I may now have more help/direction as I try to heal my 2nd metatarsal from this break. The added pressure from my wacky feet on that bone may cause some problems :( Hopefully the wedges that my PT spoke of to unload the 2nd toe and put the weight on the big toe will help. He didn't know I had wacky feet when he said that. Hmmm, really glad I joined this conversation - thanks all!

I'm not share where to put this so it's in keeping with Sasha's comment regulations. What is the context? Is it relevant to others? What if it's relevant to some people on the comment string, but not others? Should I start a new discussion forum thread, or just PM to everybody?

Anyhow, my wife upped the ante for the "little big" workout Saturday. The offer is Belgian waffles afterward, so let me know a) if you are coming to run, and #2, if you are interested in eating afterward. I really cannot oversell these waffles. They are top of the line.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Thu, Jan 19, 2012 at 11:27:54 from 24.18.125.122

Count me in for a) and #2, I'm leaving now.

From Tara on Thu, Jan 19, 2012 at 11:29:25 from 75.169.149.75

This really could apply to everyone if they wanted it too. I'm glad you read over the rules and regulations of the blog before going any further. Something I have failed to do in the past and have paid the price in red tape and editing on my blog. I will never say "fart" again, or say that someone, "farted" when they passed me in a race. I have learned my lesson.

Futhermore, I am coming to the run and I would love to come for breakfast. I am willing to bring strawberries too.

From Kam on Thu, Jan 19, 2012 at 12:58:06 from 68.66.163.179

That's great, Trap. I figured the only time I'd see you this year was in Beantown. Thanks, Tara.

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 19, 2012 at 17:53:39 from 71.219.84.120

I so want to try the Kinarvas. You have motivated me, I am going to order them right now.

Biggest Loser is stupid. I may have to stop watching it. My opinion: they tried to create TOO much drama this time around and ruined the reality-ness of the show.

The red team is completely stupid AND Conda is a cheater. Those were the worst burpees ever. I even rewound and watched twice.

My toes are beautiful, btw. I do not even have to paint them any more. They are always purple. My second toes is not longer, yet I lose at least one second toenail in every race (aside from the ultras---odd as it seems).
