1100 North to MY ROCKY MOMENT!!  Man, my back is STILL AILING GREATLY!!  Hamstring nerve pain.  Just all locked up.  What is all this?  Stress is all I can attribute it to and perhaps I truly do have a tethered cord.  I want to still ignore that thought right now.  I am just resting on miles right now and going to build up slowly and work on here and there some quality runs.  Running the Riverton 10K this Saturday and feel I might be able to muster a 7:00 to 7:10 pace there hopefully with this back pain that "is in my head" according to this book.  I think I am all out of adrenaline so its "in my body" for sure.  I work tonight, wed. and thurs. as usual so I will be wiped out adrenaline-wise for that race.  I think Ragnar on absolutely NO sleep for days really did me in, ya think?  Seriously, I try to be super Woman but it is just not happening, I am still mortal.  Dang it :  ((((!!!!!    Now I pay the price.  Pace up: 9:47, Pace down 6:50.  5 miles total.  Not pushing it at all.   It's too much right now.   AND NOW FOR THE BEST NEWS OF ALL!!!!!! :   I got the DAY SHIFT position and begin on AUGUST 10th!!!!! YIPPPEEEEEEE NORMALCY COMING UP!!  I will work only 60 hours per pay period too : D.  I will work every other Fri, Sat. and Sunday (6am to 630pm) but that's nothing compared to all those night shifts.  I am coming back from the dead!!! I will sure miss my night shift crew, they are awesome!!!  I have so much respect for night shift.  I just can't sleep normally so I have to for my sanity!!! ALLELUYAH!!! That gives me 8 weeks of normal sleep before St. George!!!

First, congratulations on going to the day shift!!! The sleep deprivation issues must be horrific, especially in the summer when all the extra sunlight plays tricks on your tired body.

Second, I've followed your last few posts, and I don't think this pain is all in your head! I tweaked my back lifting something 5-6 weeks ago, and it turned into the worst type of sciatica pain imaginable. I had severe pain waking me up at night even, and the few times I tried running, I had to "hold" my right buttock up close to my body to lessen the pain. Geeze!! I searched the internet for tips to get better, and found a site espousing Dr. Sarno's theory about the pain being in my head, and I just don't buy it. It was a depressing suggestion and really kind of hurt my feelings . . .

My nerve pain is finally getting better, tho, and I'll probably try running tonight for the first time in a month. (I told myself that as soon as I could bend my knee enough to reach and clip the toenails on my affected leg I'd run again, and I finally managed that last night!)

Anyway, I hope your nerve issues clear up soon. You are a totally awesome and amazingly fast dedicated runner, and you deserve some luck!!

Oh I am so glad that you got that day shift!!

YEAH YEAH YEAH! That will be so wonderful for you to have normalcy! I was soooo much happier and felt so much better when I went to a more normal shift after years of nights. I hope you find some resolution for your back and leg pain soon!

Thanks for your post CookieLegs!! My coworkers have gotten a kick out of me telling myself "EVERYTHING" is in my head, even a bleeding wound or sore throat. I could go on but it got to the fact that this Dr. is way, should we say "right wing" on repression/anger/anxiety causing everything in us--certainly not injury, overuse, lack of sleep, diet, or out of whack hormones. So my feelings too were hurt in fact he made me MORE angry if I was at all. Anyway.....HAVE A GREAT DAY !!! EVERYONE-- I should be bionic women soon, I CAN BE REBUILT : D.

YAY for the day shift. I worked 20 years night shift weekends...I have great respect for the night crew...it was fun though I wasn't a runner then.

GOOD LUCK this Sat. You'll do awesome as always!!!

Julie, that is so wonderful! You deserved that. I am hoping you get to be one of my nurses when #3 is born.

And about your UVM shirt - the race director said we could trade sizes at the end of this week at the Springville location. I think they must be Men's unisex sizes b/c the small fits me wierd - not overly huge, it's just big in wierd places. I definitely prefer the women's tapered shirts.
