Utah air really is bad.  Wow in the first few minutes I was so missing my sweltering runs on  the TM in California.  Now that is saying something.  Air just thick and still "inverted".  Argh.  But I just kept going outside for 10.5 miles up to Cedar Hills and beyond a bit.  Good hills of course.  Just was hoping to stay ahead of VP guy and get in a few good MP miles (just 3).   Ran steady and glad I didn't have to stop for lights like California.  Just hoofed it up some great inclines and kept the pace at an easy just under 7 pace on a few downhills.  Work again tonight so trying not to freak my body out by no longer sleeping 8 hours a night.  Actually Saturday night shift was very easy.  I never got tired until walking to my car.  We were really busy which helped.  Splits:  8:45 (sl uphill, tired), 8:34, 8:23 (uphill), 8:14 (uphill), 8 :04, 7:58 (sl uphill), 8:02 (big uphill), 6:57 (down), 6:58 (down), 6:56 (down),  1/2 mile cooldown at 8:33.  Avg pace for 10.5=  7:55.  Beat VP guy by a large margin.  I better decrease his pace soon and work harder, NOT.

great pace! way to beat the VP guy. nice MP miles in there as well. are you running any of the SLCTC winter series races?

I hadn't thought about it but you got my curiosity. I will look them up and see. I am kinda liking this no racin' theme here. I think I get race anxiety and just hangin' back and watching others is more fun. But I guess I should do a test race to see if my mileage has helped me or not. Currently I am thinking of not running Antelope and running the Riverton 1/2 which is the same day the last Sat in March. 32 miles versus 13.1? Hmmmm? I like the idea of only driving 1/2 hour to a race after three night shifts rather than like last year barely sleeping and driving early to Antelope. Insanity has its limits.

Just looked. I have one day to decide. It would be a good training series for sure to even get me in the race mode for Riverton. I don't know if I am up for a fast 5K this Sat. I was going to run 20. But maybe I could run 7 before and 10 after. Yah right. I AM going insane. I like that they are spread out and on the weekends I don't work. But I do work the Wed and Thurs. nights before each of those races, OF course. I assume you are running the series?

just curious if you had any races planned in the near future. i am liking the non-racing scene as well, at least for now. i am sure i will get the racing bug soon enough. riverton 1/2 sounds like a good idea. maybe i will look into that one. the 1/2 marathon is my weakest distance. my PR HAS TO GO this year!

ha. you posted while i was posting. no, i am not running the series, although i may consider it. that is why i asked. i work in SLC on friday nights so i could easily stay there and go to the race in the morning. but i don't think i am ready. i'm in no shape to be running a 5K, let alone a fast one.

also, i am eventually going to start into longer runs on saturdays (not quite yet)...but when i do i would love to meet up with you on a saturday and go long. i will be staying in highland if i don't drive back to logan on friday nights, so i could meet you anywhere in the utah county area. just a thought if you are ever interested :)
