Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 28, 20, 14 and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Oh man I had the worst night last night.  The wind woke me up and my stomach was hurting me so bad.  I thought I had food posioning.  I went and slept downstairs for a while so I couldn't hear the wind as much.  Needless to say I didn't get much sleep, and I didn't think I would feel up to running, but my stomach felt somewhat better this morning so I went out in the rain and the wind for a loving little run.  Leg felt pretty good.

Are you sure you ran a marathon last Saturday. Your putting in the miles and that shows true dedication. I'm sorry about your stomach I hope it doesn't recur . We had 60 mph winds last night that knock out lights and garbage cans all over the city along with a heavy rain.

Keep up the great miles your doing and recovery well.

I thought you said you were going to let yourself recharge with low miles! You are running great right now.

It is less miles than I wanted to go. They are just easy miles. I wasn't sore after the marathon, which I wanted to be so sore that I would feel like taking a couple of days off, but I don't feel like I ran a marathon. I will have my revenge!

A lot of my patients ask me how much running they can do during pregnancy. Did you run during yours, and do have any advice on exercise during pregnancy from a personal standpoint?

I ran and swam through my last pregnancy. Alot of my friend do as well. My pace is a ton slower and the mileage is alot less, but I think it is a very good thing to stay active through out the pregnancy.

My 1st trimester is hard to do much of anything because I get so sick, but I do force myself to do some so I can continue do exersice thoughout my pregnancy.

I also had to stop running and swich to ellipitcal and swimming at about 30 weeks because it was so much pressure on the pubic bone. And I needed more magnesium during my preg. because my calves would crap up when I ran.

My advise would be to tell them you can do any exercsing they did before just less intense and really make sure they are getting proper nutrition and sleep. Growing a baby is tough on the body and takes alot out of you, so if you are going to exercise you really need to take care of yourself and listen to your body.
