Half Marathon Finish

Running Accomplishments:

Recently have become interested in running thanks to my daughter and her XC adventures. I have finished a 5K and 10K. As I am new to running, I don't have a lot of highlites at this point. Hopefully this will change

Short-Term Running Goals:

First build back up to running thirty minutes at a time.

5K October 30 -- Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

10k in November -- Butch Cassidy race in Springdale.

I would like to build a solid base over the next 6 - 12 months. I hope to run in either 5K or 10K races through the next year and perhaps one 1/2 marathon (depending on how my body responds to training).

 

I would like to see how fast and far my 40 + year old body is capable of running.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Over the next 10 years I want to run consistently to maintain health and to enjoy a sport that challenges me.

Personal:

I have a wonderful marriage of 20+ years and have four children who are the light of my life. They range in age from 19 - 12 . . . two girls and two boys. Two of my children are interested in running.  Sierra and Zac are both participating on the Pine View XC Team.

AM -- Ran at the Gym on the treadmill.  Went with Jill and enjoyed a workout.  We were not able to be there a long time.  Finished three miles.  I wanted to do a little on the stationary bike, but it was time to go.  Maybe tomorrow.

AM -- Ran on the tread mill.  Didn't get as much distance as I would have liked, but I feel good with what I did accomplish.  Also XT for 20 minutes on the stationary bike (6 + miles).  Good work out.  Total time was 40 minutes.

AM -- Ran my usual outside run.  Up to Artic Circle and back.  I really need to find a couple other options for the distance I am running.  Enjoyed being outside and the feeling of exercising.  My left ankle was stiff and sore and my right foot is sore from the PF.  No complaints, though No complaints.

AM -- went to Golds  with Jill this morning.  Spent the time on the tread mill for 3 miles.  Felt good to finish.  As always I am glad to be able to exercise.  Can't believe I haven't made this a habit before now.

PM -- Had committments early this morning that prevented the workout.  I went to the Gym with my sweeheart for date night.  Ran a 5k workout on the treadmill and then XT on the Stationary Bike for another 3.5 for a total workout time of about 40 minutes.  Feels great to workout.

AM -- went to the Gym with Jill this morning.  Five mile warm up on the stationary bike and then did some strength training with Jill.  Afterwards I went for my run up to Artic Circle and back.  With out really trying I am finding that I am running faster in my workouts . . . still very much a slow run, but I guess my legs are getting stronger.
