Half Marathon Finish

Running Accomplishments:

Recently have become interested in running thanks to my daughter and her XC adventures. I have finished a 5K and 10K. As I am new to running, I don't have a lot of highlites at this point. Hopefully this will change

Short-Term Running Goals:

First build back up to running thirty minutes at a time.

5K October 30 -- Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

10k in November -- Butch Cassidy race in Springdale.

I would like to build a solid base over the next 6 - 12 months. I hope to run in either 5K or 10K races through the next year and perhaps one 1/2 marathon (depending on how my body responds to training).

 

I would like to see how fast and far my 40 + year old body is capable of running.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Over the next 10 years I want to run consistently to maintain health and to enjoy a sport that challenges me.

Personal:

I have a wonderful marriage of 20+ years and have four children who are the light of my life. They range in age from 19 - 12 . . . two girls and two boys. Two of my children are interested in running.  Sierra and Zac are both participating on the Pine View XC Team.

AM -- different route today.  Ran down to the river and the trails down there.  Went out 1.75 miles and then back home via a slightly different route (through our old neighborhood).  Ran much faster that I have in the last little while in part because I needed to be home, and in part because my legs felt stronger than usual.  Had a great time the rest of the day.

AM -- Run up to Artic Circle and back plus one mile loop.  Good run.  I have had a couple of days off and that seems to have resulted in my legs feeling well rested and strong.  Avg pace was 8:30 per mile.

AM -- Artic Circle run.  Felt great, and had a fun time on the run.  Total workout time was 33:48.  Looking forward to the Spectrum 10K.  Need to register this evening.

AM -- Artic Circle run before leaving with  our family to Brianhead ski resort for a little different type of physical activity (yeah skiing).  Good run.  Glad to get it in before we left.

Spent the day skiing.  Doesn't count for running, but I did get a good workout from the activity.  I also enjoyed plenty of sun, good company, and a heck of a lot of fun.

AM -- Artic circle run this morning.  Did not want to get out of bed following a short vacation.  Did anyway and had a slow but enjoyable run.  Feels good to be continually making progress toward my goals.  Should get another 8 miles in before the end of the week.

6:15 AM run -- Artic Circle and back for four miles at a total workout time of 35 min.  This morning was beautiful out.  The temperature was mild.  I could have run without a sweatshirt for the first time this year.  Also with daylight savings time the stars are still out when I start my run in the morning.  Love the quiet and the solitude.

AM Run -- Artic Circle route.  Easy run this morning 9 min mile avg.  Felt a little tired, but not enough not to enjoy the run.  My feet are doing ok. When I started the moon was beautiful and very low in the sky.  By the time I had finished it had disappeared from the horizon.

Missed a run today.  Family stuff and life happened.  Made some decisions to do other things and I don't really feel bad about it.  My goal for next week will be to increase my miles to 18 - 19 miles.  Looking forward to the challenge.

AM Run.  Good workout this morning.  Ran up and back to Artic Circle with a total time of 33.30.  Had one fast mile.  The first day of the week seems to be the best for me.  Love the fact that I can workout and enjoy exercise.

AM run.  Beautiful morning for a run.  Nice and cool, but not cold.  Ran my usual . . . up to Artic Circle and back.  Passed Jeff on my way back (he was running the opposite way . . . the only possible way I could pass him).  A few minutes later I ran past a couple other friends.
