Running Accomplishments:

I've been running since junior high. Ran middle distance in college with a PB of 1:52 for the 800 meters, then continued running with varying degrees of seriousness throughout my 20's and 30's. Moved up in distance and even ran three marathons (2:43 PB). Now just trying to stay in shape and find balance in life in my 40's.

 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work out 30 minutes a day, six days a week

 

 

 

 

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy and consistent.

Easy run. Kept the pace slow, but my legs are feeling fine from 18 miles yesterday.

A.M. - Treadmill - 20:50

Easy shakeout jog. Watched some Arrested Development on Amazon Prime. Good stuff.

P.M. - Canal banks + neighborhoods - 33:19

Pretty easy pace just as it was getting dark. Didn't have a whole lot of enthusiasm this evening. But at least it was semi-warm out.

A.M. - Treadmill - 21:20

Slow pace but felt pretty decent

P.M. - Ellyptical + treadmill at Golds - 40:00

20 minutes running on the ellyptical at a pretty good pace, and 20 minutes on the treadmill with some various pickups of 45 seconds to a minute.

2 mile warmup; 20 minute tempo; 2 mile warmdown

Took the canals to the Borah track where I did a 20 minute steady run at an overall pace of about 6:10/mile. Most of it was done at about 6:15/mile pace, but near the end I did a harder half mile in 2:53. Didn't feel great, but it was good enough for tonight.

Greenbelt + run home - 58:57

Did 25 minutes on the greenbelt, then ran home. Raining pretty steadily for the first 30 minutes, then nice the rest of the way. Moderate pace from the Flicks theater after watching a film called "The Phantom Wolves of Sun Valley."

Ran from Jeremy's house down to the park and did tomorrow's Turkey Trot Relay course. Met Molly down there and did 2 miles with her. Cold out, but felt pretty good.

YMCA Turkey Trot Relay

Did the world class event known as Boise's Turkey Trot Relay. It's a 4 x 2 mile course around Ann Morrison Park. The goal is to run as closely to your predicted overall time as possible, without the use of a watch. Our co-ed team was titled "Got the Runs." We did pretty well overall (placed top 5, I think), but we were over 2 minutes off our predicted team time, hence no turkeys for us.  

I ended up running 10:47, so I was close to my predicted 10:50 time. It was super cold this morning, but only icy in a few spots so that was good. I ran the first leg and was able to finish second behind ageless wonder Alan Newton (pushing age 50 and probably still at 15 min 5k runner). The rest of our team ran great, and we all had a lot of fun.
