AM - 9 miles. First 20 minutes easy then a few AT miles on the tempo loop (5:37, 5:32, 5:27) to get warm and loose. Another 10 minutes easy and then got going with the actual workout: 10 x 30 seconds uphill on a gradual incline (~3.5%) at 3K/VO2 effort. Jogged back between reps. Cooled down a little bit more w/ Andrea. Felt like I was moving very well on the 30s efforts.

PM - 6 miles.

Its been almost 8 weeks since CIM... now I'm finally ready to start training for real. Three races on the spring schedule, evenly spaced out about a month apart, ascending order of importance. I feel very confident that I have a good training plan (tweaking this thing has been a month-long process that has finally come together thanks to some major help from across the Atlantic). No excuses this year... my goal is to earn a spot on the line at a little run around Los Angeles on February 13, 2016.

Having it in LA makes it seem super exciting for some reason. Think I'll be there cheering you and anyone else on.

LA should be great and those of us who are fortunate to qualify (hopefully that will include us) will already be familiar with running in air pollution too...added bonus.

Oh if I make it, I can almost guarantee I'll take a leave of absence from work and move somewhere less "foggy" for a couple months. I think I could find a way to swing it as a medical necessity under our HR rules :-)

Nice session Jake. Best of luck executing the new plan. It sounds like both you and Riley have come around this year in terms of listening to and taking care of your bodies as the first priority. I am excited to see the outcomes.

Me too. I've been pretty good about not beating myself up and spacing out workouts... but other than for short periods of time (like the last part of the build to CIM), my training hasn't been super-smart. Hopefully by cutting out some races and just focusing on consistent progression of workouts, I can actually run to my potential in the HM this spring. Its a borderline miracle I've even broken 66 w/ how haphazard some of my training has been.

Interested to see what you and the Bamster came up with and how it goes.

Bamster and Jakers have been having way too much fun on the Ireland running threads!
