Run the Canal Road South, this direction has more hills.
During the last few miles of my race last saturday (where, once again, I finished in the top 95% of all finishers) I was focusing on staying upright and moving forward. I came to a fork in the trail and there was no ribbon marker. I stopped and looked around and it hit me. I know I will never set any speed records, I just love running in the woods. I'm in love with a sport in which I have no discernable talent. I looked at the trail marker and determined the direction to the finish and I was off and running. I made it to another finish line to the cheers of friends, old and new. So I wear my shirts proudly and train for the next race with dreams of finishing in the top 75%. What a great time. |
