As I mentioned yesterday, I really wanted to have a good time at this race, and that meant no pressure to hit a certain time and starting off conservatively so that I could push at the end. My plan worked great. This was probably my best racing experience of the year. Starting off easy made all the difference in the world for me. No need to show mile splits since the mile markers were all over the place. Course may have been short, but I'm sure running down the first canyon could easily make your garmin lose satellite. This race is getting big now. Last year it was relatively small, but it is getting more and more popular. It was great to go relatively slow the first 5 miles (which are ridiculously fast) and then eventually pass most of the people during the last 3 miles that had passed me at the beginning. I can tell I've lost some fitness over the last month, but this was a great way to get in some faster miles. This course has got to be close to being as fast as Hobble Creek. Great costumes, great race, and glad I did it.
