16.07 in 2:03:22 (7:41).  Started at 6 AM and went up and down Provo Canyon.  Took it easy going up (1:06:48 or 8:21 pace).  On the way back down I did 3 min on by 2 min off.  Started this at the 1:15:00 mark and did it the whole way down.  I wanted  the "ons" to be around MP (6:45ish) and the "offs" I just wanted to pull off the gas pedal.  Splits for the last 8 were: 7:56, 6:43, 6:53, 7:00, 6:52, 6:56, 6:49, 6:57.  Based off my splits I'm pretty sure my "ons" were a lot faster than MP, but oh well.  Good run for me and the only fuel I used were the water fountains along the trail.

I officially signed up for the DesNews marathon last night.  This next week I will be taking things easy and hopefully it will bring my legs around so that I will feel great for the marathon.  I don't know why I'm running this one again, but my whole goal is to finally conquer Foothill Blvd.  It has destroyed me the 2 times I've run this race.

First off, great workout! Your speed looks for canyon running.

Second, I think you can break the three hour mark. You know this course pretty well. Take the beginning easy like Allie was telling you. I'm looking forward to see how you do. It does take a long time to recover from that race, you really don't have anything to loose right? Go for it!

Third, I am injured! (Again, it's no suprise). It's something to do with my achilles. It's extremely tight and it hurts when I run and go up the stairs. Didn't you face this same problem about two years ago? I need advice. It's only been a week but I am starting to go crazy. I am willing to go the physical therapy route. I am just not sure if I am making a big deal out of this.

Oh man, Bec. That just sucks that you are fighting another injury. You've had your fair share. You're right. I struggled with an achilles problem 2 years ago. I went the PT route and I was fine after about a month. I don't know if it was the fact that I hardly ran during that month or if it was what the PT did. I think a combo of both. Both times I've been hurt (achilles and knee) the PT used a cortizone patch on the area. He would apply it every time I saw him (about once a week) and my body seemed to respond best to this. He also gave me some stretches to do, but they weren't real aggressive...meaning that I didn't stretch the achilles hard or a lot. I also started wearing some heel inserts to help take pressure off the achilles. Lots of info, but your best bet may be to take some time off from running (easy to say, hard to do). Running sucks sometimes.

I'm excited for the marathon. I feel like I've put in the work and the miles. I'm at least going to give myself a shot at sub 3. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks so much for the info. I have backed away from running all together and I am now just X-training. After this week I will go to the PT if it isn't going so well.

I have been watching your blog and you have been putting in tons of productive runs and miles. Best of luck to you! I won't be there, wish I could. Good luck!

Get better Bec. Thanks, for the good luck.
