Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

4:30am...the lack of sleep the last 2 nights really sapped me this morning.  4 miles with Moxie.  Only 2 good things about this run - the weather and the fact that I got Moxie out.  Hope for a better run at lunch.  (Ride)

10K in 46 minutes at lunch on a beautiful day.  First mile really easy then into an easy cruise pace around 7-7:15 for the rest of the run.  Left hammy a bit tight during the run so I didn't push it at all.  (Cortana)

Feeling old and like a total wimp. I didn't get up this morning and skipped the run.  My left leg (knee, hammy) were both a little twingy and so I gave into the doubt and did not want a repeat of yesterday's run.  I will try to go hard at lunch if time allows.

Meetings ran late but I was still able to get out for a short run.  4 miles in 25:13 (6:18 avg) on a very hot (86 degrees, full sun and no wind) early afternoon run.  Now sitting at my desk trying to cool down!  (Cortana)

No run after work.  Dinner with the family then a couple of beers with Gray, Kari and Suzie the New Balance rep.

4:30am...easy 10K with Moxie on a warm and breezy morning.  Left leg (hammy) still twingy and hips a bit tight.  Need to schedule a massage this week before the "To Bone and Back" relay.  Looks like it is going to be Lynette and I as a two person Master's team...2 fast old farts!  (Mirage)

6.8 miles in 49:30 on a nice day at lunch.  Nice temps and a bit breezy.  Left hammy still tight as is my right hip...getting old.  (Cortana)

4:30am...nearly did not make it out the door, my right hip was tight and it was cold and windy out.  Got out mostly to get Moxie out for a run and ended up with 5 slow miles (I originally planned 3).  Got it done.  (Ride)

6 miles in 46:45 with Dan on another nice day at lunch...sunny, a bit cooler and a light breeze.  Great time chatting with Dan and just resting my legs for Saturday's relay.  (Cortana)

I slept in and went out later this morning. I ran 3 miles with Moxie then came home and ran with Justin before his XC team practice.  He did great, pushing through the "pain" and keeping up with me.  We ran 3.5 miles together and he did a 5K in 23 minutes!  I then ran long home and finished off 7 miles in just over 50 minutes.  10 miles total this morning.  (Mirage)

I ran the To Bone and Back 40 mile relay as a two person team with Lynette (a Master's team).  8 legs total.

I ran the uphill leg to the dump at the top of the hill (leg 2) in 37:19, my fastest time ever on that segment...1350 feet elevation gain in 5 miles.

 I ran leg 4 into Bone with some good rollers and a big uphill in mile 4 in 32:48.

We changed the plan up and Lynette ran the next 10 miles up to the top of the big hill, and I ran the last 10 miles back down the hill and the last 5 into the finish line.  Leg 7 in 27:40 (including a quick pitstop), leg 8 in 31:03.  Last 10 miles in 58:43.  Total time for our team was 4:35, second to Gray and Tim at 3:57 and an eight person high school team at 4:33.  Thanks to my supply of PowerBar stuff (gels, Power Energy Gel Blasts) we had a good deal of fuel in the car!

Lynette and I beat the time of her and Tim from last year...just barely!

The race organizers changed the definition of Masters to 50 because that is the age of the youngest person on their team.  And I quote..."it is our race and we can do whatever we want".  So, in order to ensure they won, they changed the rules...because Lynette and I kicked their butts by about an hour!  I did win and IPod shuffle at the raffle drawing though, cool since I lost mine this winter at the gym.

Good day of running with good friends.  Nice to see so many other friends and runners out today for this event.

Now for some rest and a BBQ tonight! (Boost)
