Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Russian champion tries Crocs, commits to racing a marathon in them

Nikolay Chavkin in the video below did 3x1000, first two in Adidas carbon-fiber models, the last one in Crocs. Surprised by the result (2:52, 2:52, 2:50) with the fastest interval done in Crocs, he committed to racing a marathon in Crocs if the video gets 42K likes and 195 comments (for 42 km 195 m, the marathon distance). Nikolay's current marathon PR is 2:14:00. The video was created by a Russian sporting goods store chain. Their moto is "more sports - brighter life", which we think is wonderful, and also deserves a Like. If you want to see a fast marathon in Crocs, go to the video and click the Like button. And make sure to share it with your friends.

I am having a hard time getting motivated to get up early and run this week.  Today I barely rolled out of bed, had a bit of a stomach ache and nearly bagged the run again...but I forced myself to go the gym.  If I needed to stop, I could any time there.

1 mile wu at 7:00 pace, then 7 miles at MP progression, from 6:15 to 5:46 pace with 2 0.25M pickups at 5:27 to finish mile 7 and mile 8.  Overall 8 miles in 49:15 for a solid run that I really didn't think I would get done this morning.  Saw Marlin and Mauri which is always a good way to start the day! (Launch)

7 miles in 52:25 on a nice day at lunch. Nice and easy run around the greenbelt and two loops of Freeman Park.  (Mirage)

Funny that running fast sometimes feels better than running slow when your not feeling good huh? Sounds like I have the same symptoms as you lately, just not quite right.

Way to tough it out. You've put some nice marathon pace/tempo runs on the treadmill the past couple of weeks.

Your comment on my blog about Alan Newton got me thinking: are you currently the fastest master's marathoner in Idaho? We've got some fast masters in Boise from 5k to half marathon, but none under 2:40 in the marathon. How about in E. Idaho?

Overall marathoner..no. That kid from Boise St. (Cameron Ulmer) and another young guy in the Valley are faster overall. Plus a kid from Rexburg just ran a 2:30 at St. George but I have beat him in other races.

As far as Master's, Pat Bragassa from IF and myself and neck and neck for fastest master marathoner in Idaho. We have not run the same race at the same time, but we will in Boston 2012.

Good job getting out today! It is so hard this time of year with the Holidays and then the colder weather, just getting up and out the door is an accomplishment.
