Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Nice early morning 7M run at an easy pace (7:15) under clear cold skies. First run in new shoes (retired a pair with 500 miles on them, starting to feel like cardboard).

Total time:  50:40   (Saucony T2 - 7 miles)

Nice 7.1M run at lunch...beautiful day once again. Warmup, some MP work with 8x50m strides thrown in over 4 miles, then 2M at about 6:33 pace to cool down. No pain in the achilles during this run.

Total time:  45:38  (Saucony T3 - 320 miles)

Good to hear the achilles is feeling better.

From James on Tue, Nov 06, 2007 at 19:38:08

I have been babying my achilles for a while now a couple of days, it seemed to help some. I am glad that your's is feeling better.

I got offered a job to be the head Track Coach at Idaho Falls high School, but they don't have a decent teaching position for me to go along with it, so it probably won't fly for me. But you never know, things could change.

From jtshad on Wed, Nov 07, 2007 at 09:44:16

Hope your achilles keeps healing.

Head coach at IF? Maybe you still negotiate the teaching part...I know Alan McMurtrey (current head coach) pretty well...do you know what is up with him? I will have to check into this. I would love to have you in IF, a really running partner to train with...we could maybe push each other to new heights! Keep me posted...

James needs to hold out for a Logan job. Sorry Jeff...

From jtshad on Wed, Nov 07, 2007 at 09:57:57

Hey, you have lots of guys in Logan, I need someone to run with here in IF! Give a guy break, would ya? :-)

From Cody on Wed, Nov 07, 2007 at 10:02:51

HA! We don't give anyone away, even if we feel sorry for poor old Jeff. We like to run in a big group and stop traffic. Plus with James running with us the rest of us DON'T get mauled by animals....Just him.

From James on Wed, Nov 07, 2007 at 20:27:58

I don't know Alan McMurtrey, I just know that they posted jobs for a head and assistant coach a couple of weeks ago. I inquired about it because the pay is quite a bit more than in Utah and and the school replied with a job offer. I am holding out for somewhere with a good all around job for me, but at the same time I need to get my foot in the door somewhere. Besides, I can't live on what little savings I have for too much longer. I'll just have to wait and see.
