Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

4:30am...6 easy untimed miles with Moxie along Sunnyside.  (Ride 3)

5 miles at lunch with DanS in 38:15 for a nice easy run with a good friend.  (Mirage Red)

2.25 miles with Justin in the early evening around the neighborhood in 15:50.  Nice night, great to get out with my son.  (Boost)

I was asked last week to pace the 3:30 group at Teton Dam Marathon this weekend and thought it would be an ok training run for RONR...plus getting paid.  Today I had to call the people asking me to do it for some logistics and I was told that I was now pacing the 4:00 group...because some guy from Utah didn't want to run that slow.  Neither do I...as a local resident and 5 time podium finisher (1st, 2nd, 2nd marathon, 1st twice in HM) I would have thought I would have been given some consideration and treated with manners.  Now, I am up for a good training run this weekend on my terms and spending the time with my family!   Not doing TDM again.

I understand your feelings about the pacing. Sounds like you have a better option now!

Wow.

Good for you, Jeff. Pacing is one of those activities where you put back into running for the sake of the sport, but I think it also has to be at least negotiated! 8:00 pace would have been difficult enough I think given that you rarely run, what, much slower than 6:45-7:30 for easy runs?
