Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Easy 7M run early this morning...back to the 4am runs.  Easy progression run from a 7:40 warmup mile to the last 2M at 6:40ish pace.  Good run on a nice morning...weather tomorrow is supposed to stink again.

total time: 50:00  (Trigon - 295 miles)

6M at lunch time on a windy and cloudy but warmer day.  Not a very good run...left hammy was twinging, right hip was creaky and my stomach was sloshing for the last couple of miles.  Got it in and a bit faster than this morning, but not quite the run I was looking for.

total time: 40:07  (T2 - 509 miles)

I "slept in" on Saturday until 4:50 am and it felt great. Very sad when I can say "slept in until 4:50", though- makes me worry about us. And my ability to sleep past 6:30 am on Sunday has disappeared...

Jon, Jeff - The only time I got this early is three times last year when I was training on the Pocatello Marathon course.

It will does say a lot to get up that early to run.

Kory- I think both of us would prefer to not have to get up this early. But with job/family conditions, sometimes we just have to get a run whenever we can. It's better to not wake up this early unless you absolutely have to, in my opinion.

Kory- my work is an hour away from my house and I have to be there before 7 am. I leave my house at 5:45 am to go meet a van to work. Arrive home at 4:30 pm. So to get a morning run, I have to get up ~4 am. I wish I didn't have 2 hours commuting each day...

That does make it tough, and training on top of that each day is even harder. Like I said you have great dedication and your a skilled runner. I don't know your work environment, but do you have a chance to run at lunch.

Jeff - do you eat before you go out for a lunch run? I always just wait and eat afterwards when I do go out on a lunch run.

Not that it bothers me eating before I just enjoy it more if I eat afterwards and have more time.

Hey Adam, I am a fed, I don't drink pints at lunch...just at our "staff meetings" at the end of the work day! ;-) Speaking of which, we need to figure out how to hoist one together sometime (maybe after WBR depending on my return trip plans).

Kory, I don't eat right before runs either (unless it is a Melalueca Access bar which is a pre-run energy/fat metabolizing bar) as it really makes running painful.

Kory- nope, no lunch run possible. Which is too bad cause I am one of those guys who can go running 5 minutes after drinking 2 pints of water and eating a big cheeseburger- stomach of steel.

I woke up very early in tax season (3am or 4:30 if I was sleeping in) and all I can say is that I'm glad it's not tax season. If I had to do it year round I would be a basket case.
