Met Heather, Ellen and Cherell at Davis Park and ran up Emigration Canyon. Easy, conversational pace all the way up, then picked it up after Ellen and Cherell turned around at 6 (Heather had turned around earlier--she had already run a few miles before meeting us at 6:30 because she had to be back by 7:45). Really enjoyed the company for the first half of the run--need to make a habit of that on long runs. Decided to work in a little tempo on the downhill section to see what the legs and heart could handle. Here are my splits for the tempo section, together with AHR for each mile:
Mile 8: 6:34/155 Mile 9: 6:26/165 Mile 10: 6:20/169 Mile 11: 6:19/171 Mile 12: 6:09/174 Mile 13: 5:48/180 Mile 14 (cooldown): 6:44/173 Very mild AT pain on much of the climbing section. Also felt it a little on final couple of faster miles. Iced afterward. Overall, it was a rejuvenating long run that got me excited to really start training again. Pace: 7:37 AHR/MHR: 162/183 |
