"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka
"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

4 miles / 9:30 avg. from work. looks like i'll be taking it real easy for the next several weeks. this will be kind of my break for the year. maybe 35 - 50 miles a week. i need to do this for my mind as much as for my body. physically i feel good, but i've been feeling a little mentally fried the last few weeks. so i'll still be running everyday but i'm not going to make any extra effort for mileage. i should still be able to top 3,000 miles for the year - by far a lifetime PR. in fact, i've already beat my year mileage PR. i'll use this break as an opportunity to experiment with some nutrition changes i want to make, and to work on speed a bit.

10 miles easy, from work - north east. i didn't look at my watch until i got back to the shop and saw i was at 9.67 miles so i kept going to make 10. it was nice to not think about distance or pace today and just lope around the hoods in the sun. 30F is pretty much perfect running temp when the sun's out. 9:10 avg.
