"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka
"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

| | 4 miles. still sick! started at 5:45 AM to beat the heat. after the run i mowed the lawn. going to try and rest a lot today and stay cool. with only 16 miles over the last four days my legs are feeling fresh and perky - but this cold has the rest of me feeling drained, and when i swallow it feels like needles going down my throat (slight exaggeration). hopefully this cold will pass and by saturday i can begin the first of four longish runs planned over the next two months to prep for the salmon marathon on sept. 8th. 9 miles - from work/rio grand north. temps in the upper 70's! started out slow and feeling sorry for myself because this cold is still lingering and has me feeling pretty run down. fortunately, about 2 miles in, i ran into Steve Ashbaker and spent 4 quality miles chatting with him, which really changed my whole perspective and made it a great run! thanks for easing off your pace for a bit with me Steve. easy 8 from the shop. noticeably cooler this morning. amazing what a difference just a few degrees makes. i'm happy to get even eight miles today. this "cold" is still with me. i call it a "cold" because i don't remember having a cold that lasted so long. mostly it's messing with my already challenged sleep and i'm feeling more worn with each passing day. please, somebody, call the whambulance.
