"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka
"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

| | No running today. I thought I might get out and run 6.6 miles so I could get 200 miles for the month. But alas, I'm tired. I've run the last eight days in a row. I did get the dogs out for a short easy hike this morning, and there will be some light yardwork this afternoon. Other than that I'm laying low. Relaxing. Eating. I'm so glad March is here.

13.1 miles / 1:48:34 / 8:17 avg. Extended commute run home. Sunny, upper 40's. This is a half marathon PR for me by about 8 seconds. My PR was from Ogden last May. I ran the Ogden course slightly long, plus most of that course is downhill. So I believe today's training run signifies substantial improvement. Mile splits: 8:18, 8:19, 8:16, 8:35, 8:24, 7:58, 8:11, 8:20, 8:32, 8:14, 8:17, 8:09, 8:10, + .1 mi.@7:26 pace.

| | 20 miles / just seconds ahead of the 9 mm guy. Bluff Trail / West Davis Co. Mostly overcast, 50 - ish degrees, light winds. Felt okay today. Not good, not bad, just okay. I ran 20 miles two weeks ago, so I feel good being able to do 20 today, and 25 secs avg. per mile faster. Shorts and short sleeves too. I stopped at my car at miles 10.5 and 17.5 for a swig of water and some banana. With the temps warming up, I'm going to have to start carrying water on the longer runs again. |
