"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

No run today.

Busy day at work.

Experiencing the fatigued feeling in my head that I seem to get a couple of days after a 5 hour run. Maybe what I need is a brain transplant. Otherwise I feel great!

so, whose brain would you like to have for your transplant?

Hopefully Jimmy Carter's...it does seem rather indefatigable.

You have the runners stupidity right now. Its very similar to pregnancy stupidity.

From nevels on Tue, Oct 05, 2010 at 11:42:10 from 155.74.2.253

so you're saying that running is like being pregnant...

(i guess it makes sense - i've heard some runs are as good as... well... nevermind...)

The marathon (or ultra races) are like giving birth I've been told. The runner swears "never again!" but soon after forgets about the pain and can't wait to run another (or have another).

Exactly. Its like your mind tricks you into forgetting how awful that whole thing is. But I swear when I was training for the marathon I became a total ding dong. More blonde then usual. I would forget everything including picking up carpool. And the only other time I remember being that "dumb" was while I was pregnant.
