"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

therapy in more ways than one.

OK, I had to go read up a bit. First, the Ogden Marathon pick-up was like that when I went 2 years ago and it was ridiculous. Plus, I had no clue where i was going, we all had to keep asking and i got in the wrong line twice and waited forever for nothing...it was ridiculous. Sorry it still sucks!

Second, you are doing lots of stretching, right? Look at this for guidance: http://www.nismat.org/ptcor/eccentric_achilles

Third, nice job! That is all I can say. You are kicking my butt in miles! You hit 1000 today and i am still not there! Dang you.

From Kelli on Tue, May 24, 2011 at 20:38:38 from 71.219.96.115

Hey, will you come visit me when I hit 1000 and be that excited for me????

From Lysa on Tue, May 24, 2011 at 20:45:22 from 50.8.74.241

YES! Kelli, you are only 24 miles away!! You will do that in a few days!! You should eat cake that day.

From JD on Tue, May 24, 2011 at 20:46:52 from 71.37.100.47

Kelli - you had to take three weeks off from running for me to catch up - and I'll never be catching you in a race! I hope you're healing well, I look forward to your motivational training regimen again - meanwhile I'm motivated by your ability to keep it on the down low when required.

I didn't know today's short run would have me hitting exactly 1,000 miles - it looks so much more dramatic at an even 1,000. I'm behind my mileage last year and the year before. My original goal was to hit 3,000 miles this year, but I needed to be at 1,000 miles a month ago. So with the injury I've adjusted my goals for the year. I just want to be whole, and able to hit some ultra mountain training runs during the summer.

Thanks for the link Kelli. It looks real informative. I stretch a lot, but am always looking for improvements.

the best kind of run

From Carolyn in Colorado on Wed, May 25, 2011 at 11:43:11 from 76.25.72.82

I'm sure you've answered this before, but what does WT stand for?

From JD on Wed, May 25, 2011 at 12:44:30 from 70.96.78.149

WT = Weekly Total. The total number of miles I've run in the one week period that ends on that day. It's been a pretty constructive number to have handy.

From april27 on Wed, May 25, 2011 at 16:14:16 from 165.138.243.1

Wow I hope to hit 1000 by the end of the year. And that doesn't look like that will happen! :)
