1:43:49 as per Garmin. Official time: 1:44:23. My official time is slower because I stopped my watch for a POP break in mile three. Perfect weather. I jogged about a half mile before the race and another half mile after wards.Well organized race. Hope everybody gets paid on time this year. Got about 3 hours of sleep. I need to figure out what to do about my sleep issues on race days. Felt pretty strong until about mile 10, couldn't maintain pace. Good last mile though as I was eager to get finished. I felt good after the race. I think I could've/should've pushed harder. Lately I've determined in training too that I need to do more speed work, the kind that hurts, mostly to get my mind wrapped around it. So roughly a 5 (4 minutes, 19 seconds), minute PR over my time at the Ogden half last year. And about 2 minutes faster than my little breakthrough training run a couple of weeks ago (04-03-10).

My buddy Lysa (on the blog) ran a really good half today and PR'd!

I'm happy with my result. I am, after all, 46 yrs old. I've only been doing this consistent running thing for less than 2 years. I'm hoping to get PR's still when I'm into my 50's.

Garminesque splits: 8:18, 8:08, 7:45, 7:24, 7:57, 7:55, 7:49, 7:56, 7:49, 8:15, 8:09, 8:34 (they just had to throw that hill on the course), 7:37.

You know, I never noticed how many cats you have -- wow! My cat is on a tear these days -- my yard (and unfortunately my house some mornings) is littered with dead lizards, mice and ground squirrels. I wish I could say it was because he loves us, but alas, I think he is just bored.

Congratulations on the PR! 1:43 is a great time. You are making great progress and even greater things and more PRs are in store for you. I think this bodes well for the Ogden marathon.

Thanks you guys. My official time ended up being 30 seconds slower than I had on the watch.

If anyone had told me two years ago that I'd be running under an 8 minute pace for 13 miles I would've told them they were smoking crack. I was always a 10 minute per mile guy.

Nice work JD! Sounds like you are making GREAT progress and hitting new strides each year. CONGRATS! Oh, and do you EVER learn how to sleep before a race? I just make sure Thursday night is good, knowing Friday is going to be a bust for one reason or another :)

Bonnie - I missed you cats comment before. Yes, we're down to four cats, we had seven at one point. At that time we also had three dogs. Our house is 800 sq. ft...you do the math. Quite a hairy environment. Occasionally we'll find dead critter treasures brought in my a proud cat. Usually they leave them outside!

Great race JD! I am happy you got that PR and that you felt so good about it all. I can not wait to see how you do in Ogden (and I looked at what you have run since this race---WOW!! 20 miles on Wednesday? IMPRESSIVE!)
