"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Day off. Surfing a wave of fatigue today.

PM edit:

The Treadmill Avoidance Project (TAP) has been a rousing success. Even though there will still be days of inclement weather before Summer, I feel confident in my ability to avoid the TM. For the record, I did not set foot on the TM once throughout the Winter. As a result, my TM at home has become a repository of all ambiguous and misplaced household items, whose future use is indeterminate, in addition to being a "safe place" for the cats to hang out.

Oh good, you are human!

From JD on Wed, Mar 30, 2011 at 13:27:29 from 70.96.78.149

I think if you run a 50 miler you get to do whatever you want the following week. My head is tired.

I also think recovery is much different for a mid packer (like me), then it is for THE OVERALL WINNER IN A 50 MILER!

From Kelli on Wed, Mar 30, 2011 at 13:29:55 from 71.219.97.85

Hmmmmm....but I am tired of feeling tired!

From Lysa on Wed, Mar 30, 2011 at 15:26:22 from 50.8.74.241

perhaps you are normal..no that's not true..perhaps you are human.

From Tracy on Wed, Mar 30, 2011 at 16:17:44 from 209.175.177.37

I feel silly jumping on your bandwagon late, but I just read your race report. Man, you're awesome! And I think you're entitled to ride the wave after that performance. At least for today.

From JD on Wed, Mar 30, 2011 at 19:55:41 from 209.183.51.131

Are we human Lysa? Or are. We. Dancers?

Thanks Tracy. You're training looks like it's going well. We have similar race results, nice pace on your ten miler a couple of weeks ago.

I'm on book 2 of the "Millennium" trilogy, "The Girl Who Played with Fire". I'm loving these books! Apparently, Larsson's girlfriend is going to try and finish the fourth book in the series that was started before the author passed away.

we're dancers. because that is the only thing that makes sense.

ride that wave!

JD--what??? this is such exciting news!!! The second one was my fav one.

The good thing about running 50 miles is I think the week after you can eat ice cream...or chocolate...or donuts...hmmm

From Tracy on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 09:28:22 from 209.175.177.37

Thanks, JD! I noticed that we were similar in pace. Does that mean that someday I can run 50 miles in just over 10 hours? Ha ha. I'm not that crazy :)

I'm not sure how I feel about the possibility of a 4th book in that series. It was a good series, but I wonder how good it would be written by someone else...But then again, I've read all of the books in the Wheel of Time series (those are some good books if any of you have a lot of time on your hands) and the last two were among my favorites, even though they were written by another author after Robert Jordan died.

JD, I think you should have TAP shirts made up. I'm sure there is a market for them...

From Lily on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 12:01:04 from 67.199.178.210

Sometimes TAP is great. Esp for you men.

Oh dear, did I just say that...

From JD on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 12:05:54 from 70.96.78.149

Thanks April - and yes, I've been indulging in chocolate...and donuts...and ice cream...

Tracy - I hope the third book holds up as well as the first two. I'm always looking for a good read so I'll definitely check out the Wheel of Time series - thanks for the tip. Oh, if I can run a 50, anybody can. Seriously.

Haha! Actually Adam, those would make great t-shirts!

From JD on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 12:08:32 from 70.96.78.149

Hahaha! True Lily, TAP avoidance is somewhat counter-intuitive for us blokes!
