"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

8.6 miles - started with a 3.6 mile loop on the snowy, sporadically tracked buffalo ranch trail, then finished with 5 miles on the sweet asphalt of the road. did several striders/fartlek throughout the last couple of miles, just random pickups without timing, probably at 5k pace-ish. hope i can manage at least one workout later this week. mostly sunny, 31F felt cooler with the steady breeze out of the WNW.

Why wouldn't you be able to work out more? Race?

From JD on Sun, Jan 08, 2012 at 20:33:05 from 71.32.200.226

no, no race. just haven't been running anything but easy miles for the last several days because of some tightness in my left hamstring. i did the striders today to see how the hamstring felt, it felt fine. so maybe in a few days i can do a real workout without hurting myself.

right. cause those other (long) runs you do aren't really workouts ;)
