"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

easy 8 / from work / 9:03 avg. last night i stubbed my pinky toe on an immovable kitchen appliance. this morning it was black and blue and a little swollen. i don't think it's broken, but it was very painful for the first 5 miles today, then the pain went away (endorphins?). it feels sore now. it's a disappointment, but feels like it will be easily manageable. hopefully just a couple of days of discomfort. i'm sure the running will only help to heal it faster.

pm - 3.3 miles at the nature center (pea gravel/boardwalk/lotsofnature)

ohhhh ouch. sorry about that. you must have stubbed it pretty hard for it to turn black and blue, which means it must have been quite painful. was there any screaming [manly shouting] involved?

give it my best.

thanks allie - the manly scream took an internal, convulsive route through my body, causing an ugly, crouched, grimace faced manifestation of my true inner self to come contorting out in a most unappealing fashion. it hurt.

Ouch! You didn't feel it after a while? Are you sure you didn't leave your toe somewhere? LOL
